My Story: My Triumphs // My Goals // My Dreams // My Why
In 1953, during the winter months, attending the scouts assembly at the recreational centre, my curiosity was attracted to people lifting weights and exercising. During weeks before or after the scouts assembly, I was observing them on regular basis; one day, I was observing and admiring
them, Mr Laurin invited me to try it and lift the weights, which captivated me so much that a suscribed with the group.
Eventually, I was able to gather a few dollars to buy a set of 325 pounds barbells
from Mr. Adrien Gagnon. That is how I started to train in the furnace room of the apartments house (very warm) on a more regular basis. With time, when my parents observed how dedicated I was to training, I graduated to the garage, and then to the basement.

Later in 1959, I started to work and then was able to join . My trainers, Andy Charette drove regularly to Montreal to meet Leo Robert, Jimmy Caruso, Adrian Gagnon
and Ben Weider, also Harry Swartch and John Valentine from Vic Tanny which I managed the gym with 20 instructors, where I was privileged to receive personal instructions. Also, the one and only very good magazine

In l960, I participated to my very first competition in Sudbury, Ontario (Mr. Ten Provinces) where I came 2nd most muscular after Henry Chevrier. Later in 2005, I was pleasantly surprised to meet his son in a competition. This competition started the ball and I kept on doing many contests until l972. I managed to win Mr. Canada Most Muscular in l969, also twice as a Canadian Powerlift Champion. At age 32, I retired from competing to be more available to my family and career. I then kept training at a much slower pace (2 to 6 hours/week, compared to 20-25 hours/week).

At age 64, when retired from public life, I decided to give more attention to training and try myself at competing again.

Professional
- Went to school in Toronto to become electronic technician, worked for Canadian Pacific as a specialist in telecommunications, where I worked until 1978.
- Big switch in carrer: bought a sawmill with my brother and managed it until 2004.
- Retired from public life
- in 2006 we decided to build a house and I managed the project (66 years old) and that is where we live now

Anecdotes
- when I was 24 years old, the participants of a competition had to make a show for the kids the following day; I then was able to do 15 reps with 310 pds on a bench press, at 160 body weight.
- when asking the judges what to do to improve myself? The answer:
- my future wife was not even impressed by my titles as Canadian Champion in 2 disciplines, I had to figure our new charming methods.
