I am a 41 year old single mom who has been in the Fitness industry for over 15 years now. I have always been fit and have been encouraged many times over the years to compete. I have always shied away from Fitness competitions as I am not a gymnast. Now with Figure as an option I feel the only thing stopping me is me! I am now committed to the April 17th show and am telling everyone!

I am currently training "online" with Jenny Lynn the 2006/2007 Figure Olympia Champion and she has been wonderful! So motivational and down to earth. I have been "offseason" training for about a month now and it's going great - huge changes already which makes me even more committed. I no longer want to "cheat" because of the changes I am seeing - it's like a domino effect! The more changes I see, the harder I work and more committed to my end goal I become!
In becoming the ME i desire to be, I Dare myself to master my empowerment in the following ways AND here is why:
I believe Physical Fitness and proper nutrition are a lifestyle choice and not something to be incorporated "now and then". I try to be a good role model to my children by talking about the importance of getting exercise and eating right to get strong muscles and bones. I am a Group EXercise Regional Manager and as such, also teach Group EXercise. I am very proud to say that I am a certifed Les Mills instructor. My children often watch and practice my programs with me - especially the BodyCombat (kickboxing)! Without proper nutrition, I would not have the energy needed to teach my classes. I strongly believe that nurition makes up 80% of your results. In addition, I don't believe in hours upon end in the gym. Get in and get out - stay focused, work hard, avoid socializing and long rest breaks. Your mind/muscle connection only lasts so long under heavy training. Train hard, eat right and play hard (you must also give yourself time to enjoy life)!

I truly believe that EVERYONE can be Body Proud! Everyone has the potential to bring the best out of their body with dedication and perserverence. My hope with my transformation is that I can inspire others who feel there is no more hope. There is no doubt that it takes hard work and commitment but the end results are SO worth it. Confidence, energy, and for me, being a role model for my children.

Things going well so far!

As I near the end of my first week, I am pleased with what I have accomplished. I am glad that I am giving myself plenty of time to make little changes slowly versus worrying about changing a whole bunch of things all at once. I have verbalized my commitment to doing a show to several people now (we all know that the more people we tell, the more we will be held accountable to completing!). I am happy to say that everyone is excited for me!

Looking forward to what week 2 will bring.

Day one!

Well, what better day to start my transformation than on the first day of a brand new month! Just returned from a relaxing vacation with my family in Hilton Head SC and my mindset is ready. Woke up with a bit of a cold but nothing was going to stop me today! Trained legs and bi's today - felt good to be back in the gym after 10 days off. Busy week ahead with work/meetings out of town so starting to prepare my food now.
