Fitness Model Competitions

SET YOUR BODY PROUD GOALS TO COMPETE IN THE FITNESS MODEL SEARCH

Overview:

The Fitness Model Search category is ideal for lean, fit, toned, athletic, symmetrical and aesthetically pleasing individuals who wish to showcase their 'Body Proud' physique, pursue a career as a fitness model, get known in magazines, land covers &/or aspire to compete in Fitness.

All FAME World Tour competitions follow the Drug Testing guidelines set out by the World Natural Sports Organization (WNSO) to encourage a Natural stage and create an even playing field.

FAME welcomes Individuals of all levels (including first timers) regardless of background, titles and/or organization affiliation.

Who:
* Males and Females
* Individuals of all ages (there is even a category for 35+ years)
* Personal Trainers - great way to motivate & boost clientele!
* Fitness & Yoga enthusiasts
* Aspiring & Current Fitness Athletes
* Those looking for a challenge and a way to stay motivated to be in shape

The Look:

There is not one defined ideal 'look' for this category, as physique is only one element of the competition and all physiques are different. Rather the goal is to come in showing lean, fit and toned musculature. The body should be balanced and symmetrical (e.g. upper vs lower body, front vs back, ratio of chest to hips). Body fat levels should be reasonable, neither too excessive nor too minimal. Muscle separation and visible ab development are needed in this division, but physique should not display excessive vascularity, dryness, striation or mass,. (Those who have more muscle mass should enter the Muscle Model Search; those with less tone and/or less mass should enter the FAME Beauty category as well). Athletes should appear vibrant and healthy and must have a great attitude.

Judging:

Overall, judges are looking for lean muscle tone, posture and symmetry; confidence, charisma, projection and exceptional style on stage; ability to pose in interesting ways; lean body composition; great stage presence; an attractive, healthy, vibrant look that could be marketable in the industry; style & fluidity of walk and turns; attractiveness, individuality, personality and overall impression. Outfits should be suitable to the physique and showcase the athlete as a Fitness Model.

Posing:
Models should appear comfortable and should stand in a relaxed stance in this division. Stay tight and maintain good posture, but do not appear as though you are flexing. (unlike bodybuilders and figure competitors who are more rigid).

2 ROUNDS OF COMPETITION:

There is an individual walk-out where athletes perform their own style of turns (1/4, 3 point or 1/2...). There is also a group comparison when all models will be directed to perform a series of four 1/4 turns to the right. This may be slightly altered at each event due to the volume of competitors.

During each round of competition in the Model Divisions, competitors first walk individually across the stage to either one or three specific points (depending on the round), turning at each point (their own style - 1/4, 3 point, 1/2...) to show their personality and physique to the judges from multiple angles. Competitors can also include a trademark waive, hair flip or some other means to showcase their individuality and personal flair.

After completing the walking portion of each round, competitors will then be judged in a lineup with the rest of the competitors in their division. All competitors' physiques and overall presentation will be evaluated in the four quarter turn positions. Judges may request call outs to compare certain competitors against each other to determine the placing for that round.

1. Swimwear Round (60%)

Athletes select their own competition suit for this round. They should pay attention to styles, cuts, colors, patterns and fits that flatter and accentuate their personality and fit body - and perhaps hide any flaws. Often suits are custom designed complete with crystals or rhinestones. High heels with clear bottoms are standard.

2. Themewear Round: (40%) Models should wear themed outfits that show off their personality, spirit and individual style. Outfits can range from simple sportswear to elaborate costumes. Athletes also have center stage to play up their theme and capture the attention of the judges, photographers and scouts. They should incorporate their theme into their style of walks and turns. The main idea is to have fun with this round! The pictures and memories are definitely worth it!

Tip: As this is a Model Search you are modeling your outfit and your physique at the same time. When it comes down to judging, athletes with more form fitting outfits &/or who are showing more skin may leave a more favorable impression on the judges, especially if it's a close call. Keep in mind that athletes are not specifically judged on their outfits, however the clothing choice may leave an impression with the judges and can add to the score.

DIVISIONS:

You may compete in as many of the following divisions as you are qualified for:

Experience:

Height:
Athletes may be further divided into height depending on the final competitor count and median height of the athletes. This is at the discretion of the promoter, head judge and FAME officials.

Age:

There is a special class for Masters Athletes.
* Females: 35 and over

Hey everyone!

Mirieille, there are so many trainers and pro athletes on here that you should post that question in the 'competition forum' as well. I'm sure someone will be answer that soon. You can also look at some online contest prep training. The link supplied is run by Judge, Creative Director and FAME Pro Michael Elias.

Andre - the main difference between Muscle Model and Fitness Model is the mass. Muscle models show more traps, lats and overall thickness. In both categories you should appear relaxed and show your personality.

Hope this helps!
